I've already seen many things, but not as many bicycles, as for example, in Amsterdam; they are not bicycles any longer, but something massive, the swarms, the hordes, the colonies of the velocipedes, are something like the growth of the bacteria or the bustle of the infusorians or swirling of the little flies; the nicest thing is, when the constable stops the flow of the bicycles to allow the crossing of the street and then nobly opens the way again: at that moment, bursts out a whole swarm of cyclists lead by a few champions in the precipitancy, and pads forward with fantastic massiveness of the mosquito dance.“
